Kathmandu-Terai Expressway: 27 companies interested in constructing two tunnels

A total of 43 companies have expressed interest in constructing two tunnels on the Kathmandu-Terai Madhes Expressway. Twenty-one companies have submitted bids for the construction of 21 tunnels and bridges from Chhokredanda to Dhedrekhola and 22 for the construction of tunnels and bridges from Dhedrekhola to Lendanda.

There are 43 applications from 27 companies in the pre-qualification bid called by the Nepal Army for the construction of two tunnels under the expressway.

The Nepal Army has been given the responsibility of construction of the project. The Army has stated that the bidding process for the pre-qualification called for Tunnel Packages 1 and 2 has been completed.

It is mentioned in the press release issued by the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepal Army today. "The bidding process has been completed, with significant participation," he said.

"A total of 21 companies have submitted bids for the work from Chhokredanda to Dhedrekhola, while a total of 22 companies have submitted bids for the work from Dhedrekhola to Landanda," the army said in a statement.

The selected construction company will plan, design, engineering, procure, construct and operate the double lane standard tunnel and bridge.

The length of the road section from Chokredanda to Dhedrekhola under the expressway is 4.5 km with 3.35 km of tunnels. Similarly, the length of road section from Dhedrekhola to Landanda is 4.5 km. It will have two tunnels one and a half kilometers long.

The Army has stated that the evaluation committee will now evaluate the bids and list the eligible companies.
