Former DSP fined Rs 50,000 for cyber crime

Retired Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Krishna Kumar Khadka has been fined Rs 50,000 and compensated Rs 25,000 for cyber crime. The Kathmandu District Court has decided to fine and compensate Madhu Shahi (Samuna) Khadka for sending obscene messages from Khadka's Facebook ID.

The court has imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 compensation on the basis of 15 days of detention during the investigation. Khadka's brother-in-law Madhu Shahi Khadka was arrested by the police two years ago on the basis of a complaint against cyber crime. He was recently released on Rs 1 lakh bail by the Kathmandu District Court. Defendant Krishna Kumar Chhetri has been found guilty of violating Section 47 (1) of the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063 BS. According to Article 47910 of the same act, a fine of Rs 50,000 will be imposed, 'the decision said. Similarly, former DSP Khadka has decided to seize Madhu's mobile phone as he had sent obscene messages to her on Facebook Messenger.

Former DSP Khadka, who has a permanent home in Nepalgunj, and his brother-in-law have been involved in a case since the past. A case was filed against her daughter-in-law Madhu Shahi Khadka after she filed a complaint with her brother-in-law Krishna Kumar Khadka for using offensive words with a screen shirt. She is the wife of former DSP Krishna Raj Khadka's own brother Dilip Kumar Khadka. She is currently living in Baneshwor with a son and a daughter.
