ACC Premier Cup: Nepal stopped in the semi-finals

Apr 19, Kathmandu- Former winners Nepal have been eliminated from ACC Premier Cup cricket. Nepal was eliminated from the tournament after losing by 6 wickets to UAE in the semi-final match on Friday.

UAE achieved the target of 120 runs given by Nepal in the match at Al Amret Cricket Ground in Oman in 17.2 overs with the loss of 4 wickets.

Alishan Sharafu top scored with 55 runs for UAE while Vishnu Sukumaran contributed 28 runs. Captain Mohammed Wasim scored 11 runs. Also, Syed Haider added 14 runs.

For Nepal, Gulshan Jha took two wickets and Sompal Kami and Lalit Rajwanshi took one wicket each.

Earlier, after losing the toss and being invited to bat first, Nepal played the entire over and scored 119 runs for the loss of 9 wickets.

Sandeep Zora scored a half century for Nepal. He scored 50 runs in 40 balls with the help of 4 boundaries and two sixes. Gulshan Jha scored 20 runs, Karan KC scored 17 runs. The performance of others was not significant.

Asif Shaikh scored 8 runs when opener Kushal Bhurtel got out for a golden duck. Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel 5, Kushal Malla 3, Dipendra Singh Airee 5 and Sompal Kami got out for 2 runs.

Junaid Siddique,Ali Naseer and Basil Hameed took 2 wickets each for UAE.

With this, Nepal has lost the chance to play in the Asia Cup. The winning team of this tournament will get to play in the Asia Cup. Nepal was undefeated in the group stage and reached the semi-finals.
