Political leadership should take risks to develop the country: Finance Minister Pun

May 02, Kathmandu- Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun has said that the political leadership has to take risks for the economic development of the country.

Finance Minister Pun said this while consulting former administrators and experts in the financial sector regarding the preparation of the budget for the next financial year. On Wednesday, in the evening, he took suggestions from former finance secretaries, former governors of Nepal Rastra Bank, and former vice-chairmen of the National Planning Commission. During that time, he also said that the morale of the private sector and the administration mechanism is weak. He also said that the government, political parties, private sector, administration mechanism and experts in the financial sector are active and concerned to improve the economy.

Finance Minister Pun mentioned that the financial policy of the government and the monetary policy issued by the National Bank should work in harmony. Minister Pun also informed that there is a discussion with the Rashtra Bank regarding the need to gradually relax the restrictions imposed during the crisis in the economy. He said that political and administrative leaders should strive for work and other aspects of the society should support it. The participants of the discussion suggested bringing a budget that is realistic and implementable.
