Chennai beat Hyderabad by 20 runs for the third time in the IPL

Former runners-up Chennai Super Kings beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 20 runs to clinch their third victory in IPL T20 cricket.

Sunrisers Hyderabad were bowled out for 147 in Tuesday night's match in Dubai. Chasing the winning target of 168 runs given by Chennai, Hyderabad were reduced to 147 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Chennai won the game by 20 runs.


Kane Williamson's 57-run half-century for Hyderabad did not help the team win.

Similarly, Johnny Bairstow added 23 runs while Priyam Garg and Vijay Shankar scored 16 and 12 runs respectively. Rashid Khan was out for 14 runs.

Karn Sharma and Dryan Bravo of Chennai took 2/2 wickets each. Similarly, Sam Karan, Sardul Thakur and Rabindra Jadeja took one wicket each.

Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Chennai lost 6 wickets in 20 overs and scored 167 runs.

Shane Watson top-scored for Chennai with 42 runs. Ambati Rayudu added 41 runs while Sam Karan scored 31 runs.

Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was out for 21 while Rabindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 25.

Sandeep Sharma, Khalil Ahmed and T Natarajan of Hyderabad took 2/2 wickets each.

Along with the victory, Chennai has also avenged the defeat in the first match against Hyderabad.

In the first match of this season, Hyderabad had defeated Chennai by 7 runs.

With the win, Chennai has added 6 points in 8 games. Chennai has risen to the sixth position.

Hyderabad is in the fifth position with 6 points in 8 games.
