Kathmandu Metropolitan awarded 'Mayors Research Fellowship'

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has awarded 'Mayors Research Fellowship' to 10 people for conducting research in different disciplines.


The CPN (Maoist) Urban Planning Commission has awarded 'Mayors Research Fellowship' to 10 people in the first phase with the objective of inculcating a culture of research at the policy-making level and taking it to the implementation level.


CPN (Maoist) chief Vidya Sundar Shakya has suggested the researchers to prepare the research keeping in view the practical aspects so that it can be easily implemented in the upcoming policies and programs. The agreement also stipulates that KAMPA will provide Rs 150,000 in each category for research.


In the first phase of the research, non-communicable disease risk and health lifestyle policy studies in schools within the workplace have been shown to have an impact on the local economy and livelihoods due to pedestrians. Similarly, study of Thamel area of ​​Kathmandu, study on infrastructure mapping for risk reduction in Kathmandu Valley, air quality within the Kathmandu Valley.

Analysis study on air pollution mechanism, a quantitative study of the experience of female professors in community schools in Kathmandu has been selected.

Similarly, in the first phase, there is a feasibility study on biomass and carbon stock plantation in the ring road area of ​​Kathmandu Valley to reduce the impact of global climate change.

A study on law, policy and evidence related to the quality of life of senior citizens of the CPN (Maoist), poverty in the Newar community in the region and possible remedial measures have also been selected. Similarly, a research proposal on the role and effectiveness of communication in Kathmandu Development Management (from planning to implementation) has also been selected.

Prateek Khanal, Kriti Pradhan, Suraj Gautam, Rajiv Pokhrel, Samrat Basyal, Navin Raj Joshi, Kripa Sigdel, Manish Man Shrestha, Rabindra K Suwal and Gopi Krishna Dhungana are in the list.
