We have all heard that senior citizens, widows, helpless children, Dalit children have received social security allowances from the government. However, even a single man may not have heard of the allowance. The Apihimal village municipality of Darchula has started giving allowance even to single men.

The village municipality has started giving monthly allowance of Rs. 500 to single men from the last fiscal year. Village Municipality Chairman Dharmananda Manyal said that the allowance was started as single men were in trouble like single women.

Allowances have been given to alleviate their financial woes. Twenty-eight single men from all over the village municipality have started receiving single man's allowance continuously since last fiscal year. According to the Apihimal Municipality, two single men from Ward No. 1, three from Ward No. 2, nine from Ward No. 3, three from Ward No. 4, five from Ward No. 5 and six from Ward No. 6 are receiving the allowance.

Single men are also happy after the village municipality started giving allowances. Karbir Singh Thekre of Apihimal Gaonpalika-4 said, "It has become easy to buy soap, salt and oil after the village municipality has given a monthly allowance of Rs. 500. If this amount is increased, it will be easier for us single men. '

The village municipality has built an old age home for senior citizens last year. Similarly, the village municipality has been providing Rs. 1,000 incentive allowance to women who come to the health facility for delivery, said Rajendra Singh Dhami, chief of the health department. After receiving the incentive amount, pregnant women have started going to the health facility and started giving birth there.
