ICU To Be Operated In Sankhuwasabha For The First Time

June 4, Kathmandu- ICU will be operated in Sankhuwasabha District Hospital for the first time in the eastern hilly district. An agreement was signed between the district hospital and Guthi on Thursday during a program to operate the ICU.

Kunina Educational Guthi will provide financial assistance for the operation of the ICU which could not come into operation due to lack of manpower. A bilateral agreement has been signed between Guthi chairperson and former lawmaker Pasang Sherpa at the district hospital and Sankhuwasabha at the district hospital. The Kunina Educational Trust has agreed to provide Rs. 300,000 monthly to the hospital for the appointment of a Consultant Anesthesiologist for the operation of the ICU as soon as possible by the District Hospital Management Committee. The agreement has been reached so that the amount provided by the monthly salary trust for ICU operation cannot be spent elsewhere.

Chairman of the Guthi Sherpa said that the Guthi has provided assistance to bring in expert manpower. He said, "Everyday people in the country are losing their lives due to the coronavirus. "People around the world are dying of starvation because of a new variant of the virus," Sherpa said. "We're helping to run the ICU so that no one dies in the famine."

Guthi has agreed to provide Rs. 1.8 million for the required manpower for six months, said Suman Shakya, chairman of the hospital management committee and head of the district coordination committee.

The District Hospital Sankhuwasabha has been undergoing a lot of improvement and progress in recent times. Chairman Shakya said that the ICU is being set up for the first time in the eastern hilly region with the help of donors at the district hospital where new equipment is being installed. The hospital, built-in 2033 BS, is now in operation with 50 beds. The Sankhuwasabha has been visited not only by the 10 local levels but also by the district hospital Sankhuwasabha in more than half of the neighbouring districts of Bhojpur.
