Two People Arrested For Hacking Social Media Accounts

June 11, Kathmandu- Police have arrested two members of the gang who were hacking social media and collecting money. Police have arrested two people involved in hacking Facebook including a journalist from Sunsari.

Rolpa Police Chief Deputy Superintendent of Police Naresh Raj Subedi said that the two youths were taken under control after a complaint was lodged against them for hacking Facebook and extorting money from relatives and friends. According to him, Hrithik Kumar Kalwar, 20, of Sunsari's Dubhi Municipality-5 and Sarnendra Chaudhary, 24, of Itahari Sub-Metropolis-12 Khanar were arrested two weeks ago. Rolpa police is currently investigating against them. A complaint was lodged against them about three weeks ago.

Journalist Khem Budha had hacked his Facebook and borrowed money from his relatives and immediately transferred the money to his account. Kalwar and Chaudhary were arrested on the charge of being involved in the incident.

Police have registered a case against them under cyber crime. According to the police, the attention of Nepal Rastra Bank, NIC Bank, e-services and others has been drawn.
