Eight People Including Journalist Narayan Wagle Have Been Arrested For Protesting In Baluwatar

June 11, Kathmandu-A massive civil movement has staged a protest in Baluwatar on Friday against the government's affiliation with a private medical college. They staged a demonstration in Baluwatar demanding an end to political interference in the Medical Education Commission.

Citizen leaders have protested saying that the government is preparing to give affiliation to V&C Medical College in Jhapa by violating the law. Instead of improving the quality of government hospitals, they have been protesting against the affiliation of private medical colleges. During the demonstration, placards such as "Health care is not business, not public health" were displayed.

Police have arrested eight people, including journalist Narayan Wagle and Sanjiv Upreti, from Baluwatar. They have been taken to Nepal Police Club at Bhrikutimanda.
