FNJ Demands Action Against Coca-Cola For Threatening Journalist Budhathoki

July 17, Kathmandu- The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has drawn serious attention to the incident against Gajendra Budhathoki, a member of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) and editor-in-chief of Lumbini Sanchar.com.

The management of Bottlers Nepal had threatened the trade union representative and instructed some trade union officials to hold a meeting in the name of journalist Badhathoki after journalist Budathoki wrote a news story with a follow-up on the issue of 73% shares of Bottlers Nepal being bought and sold outside Nepal without the knowledge of Nepal.

Also, journalist Budathoki has informed the federation that his life is insecure as he has received threats of being insecure by calling from an unknown number.

A statement issued by the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) said: It is unconstitutional to interfere with the freedom of the press and expression and to issue such a decision and directive against journalist Budhathoki if he is dissatisfied with the published news and legal action should be taken against him.

The federation is of the view that such actions have made the security of journalists more challenging.

FNJ has demanded the concerned parties to investigate the incident and take legal action against the management of Bottlers Nepal for making journalists insecure and making such decisions and directives against journalists.
