Hacker Has Warned To Hack Systems of 16 Banks Including Rashtriya Bank Through Email And Phone

Nepal Rastriya Bank (NRB) has started an investigation after receiving emails and phone calls saying that the systems of 15 banks including Nepal Rastra Bank have been hacked and a large amount of money has been stolen. Also, the named banks have increased the system monitoring by deploying staff overnight.

On Wednesday, an email was sent to NRB spokesperson Dev Kumar Dhakal from an unidentified email ID, listing 15 banks that were targeted for hacking. Also, an international call came to Dhakal's number at around 7 am on Thursday (today) and it is said that the system of the banks warned the day before has been hacked.

Spokesperson Dhakal said that he received the call saying, "Your system has been hacked." He said he immediately informed his IT department and an investigation was underway.

Spokesperson Dhakal has received emails and phone calls saying that major banks in Nepal, including Nepal Bank, Nabil Bank, Rastriya Banijya Bank, Everest, and Himalayan Bank, have gained access to system hackers and are threatening to steal money from both online and offline technology within the next 24 hours. The email also said it would be the biggest banking hack in South Asia and that the letter was not a joke.

Spokesperson Dhakal said that all the stakeholders have been informed and alerted since the email came. As soon as the spread of emails spread, all banks and financial institutions, including the National Bank, have become vigilant. NRB has informed all banks and financial institutions not to panic but to be vigilant.

Even the banks have tested all their systems after the threatening mail and high vigilance has been adopted. So far, no problems have been reported in the NRB system, although inspections are ongoing.
