Free Internet On Community Campus For 2 Years

July 22, Kathmandu- Nepal Telecommunications Authority, the regulator of the telecommunications sector, will now provide free internet to all community campuses in the country.

NEA has taken this program forward through the budget of the current Fiscal Year 2020/21 on the basis of the policy directive of the government.

Earlier, the program was launched under the direction of the then Minister of Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung. Under Gurung's direction, NEA had started the process in the first phase from community schools in eight earthquake-hit districts. However, NEA has now included in its budget a plan to provide free internet to all community campuses in the country.

NEA has passed a budget of Rs. 700 million for that. In which internet will be provided in community campuses as well as community basic schools. It is mentioned that the available internet can be used for free for two years.

According to NEA, agreements are being signed with the community campuses of the eight districts most affected by the earthquake. The college can apply for the recommendation of the university.
