July 24,Kathmandu - Today, on the day of Ashadh Shukla Purnima, the festival of Guru Purnima is being celebrated by showing respect to the teachers who recite Gayatri, Diksha, Veda Mantra and teach.

‘Gu’ means darkness and ‘Ru’ means light. Prada Ram Chandra Gautam, a theologian and former chairman of the Nepal Panchang Judging Committee, said that the person who destroys the darkness of ignorance by the light of knowledge is mentioned in the book of Tantrashastra and Dharmashastra called Guru.

The person who destroys the darkness and spreads light in life is called Guru. Such scriptures are also considered by our scriptures as Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwar. Like the parents, the Guru is also considered as a deity and is called 'Acharya Devo Bhav'. On the occasion of Guru Purnima, various schools and organizations have been organizing programs on this day to pay homage to the teacher who imparts education and initiation. It is said that this year, public programs will be held to avoid the transmission of corona virus.
