September 7, Kathmandu - The Election Commission has given time till today to the elected representatives of UML and People Socialists Party (PSP) to choose the party. The commission had on August 25 issued party registration certificates to the UML-split Unified Socialist Party and the PSP-split Democratic Socialist Party-9.
After that, according to the second amendment of the Political Parties Act, the people's representatives at the Province and local levels were given time to choose the party till September 7, which is 21 days after the split. That time is running out today. At the center, 23 members of the House of Representatives and seven members of the National Assembly were identified in the Madhav Nepal-led CPN-Unified Socialist Party. Although the three MPs were later ready for identification, the commission did not recognize them.
About 22 percent of the MPs in the province assembly are open to Madhav Nepal's party. Only in Gandaki province, no one is open in Nepal's party till now. But in Province 2 and the Far West, the Unified Socialist UML has become a bigger party. The CPN (Unified Socialist) has become the largest party in the Far West. Till today, there is still time to open and identify the people's representatives in the provincial assembly and at the local level. Some are open today and today is the decisive day.
So far, the exact number has not been made public. The Election Commission has said that it will take one more day for the final results to come after the identification work is completed. Even though no one in Gandaki prepared this news, only one person in Lumbini has identified Madhav Nepal's party. In the remaining five Province, the position of the new party is strong.
