Forest Office Urges To Keep House Barn Lit Up For Avoiding Leopards Attacks 

Oct 14, Kathmandu- For the past few years, there has been a leopard terror in Tanahu district. The Forest Office, Tanahu, has urged to keep the house lit up in the evening and at night as the leopards attacking girls in Bandipur can attack people again.

Stating that leopards hunt people due to lack of food while hunting wild animals including deer and wild chickens, he said, "Everyone should help in arresting the poachers of wild animals."

Bishal Shrestha, 6, of Dordor in Bhanu Municipality-3 was killed by a leopard for the first time on March 20, 2074 BS. Since then, 11 children in the district have lost their lives to leopard attacks.

Provide relief

Meanwhile, relief has been provided to the family of a girl from Bandipur Gaonpalika-5, Bahunbhanjyang of Tanahu who lost her life in a leopard attack. The Bandipur Village Municipality and Division Forest Office have provided Rs. One lakh to the girl's family for food expenses.

Nine-year-old Swikriti Thapa was killed in a leopard attack on Monday evening. Village Municipality Chairman Purna Singh Thapa handed over the amount to the deceased's grandfather Yam Bahadur on Wednesday. Both the agencies have provided Rs. 50,000 each as immediate relief.

As the Forest Office will provide Rs. 1 million relief, Rs. 50,000 has been distributed for the time being and an additional Rs. 950,000 will be provided within a few days.

Stating that money cannot be compared with human life, Chairman Thapa said that relief money was provided to the victims to apply ointment and make them feel that the government is with the people.
