Floods In Melamchi, Road Blocked

October 17, Kathmandu - Due to last night's heavy rain, the temporary highway connecting Melamchi to Indravati has been damaged. Hume pipe was laid and the road was built about three months after the concrete bridge was washed away by the floods on June 15.

Chairperson of the temporary motorists' committee Tara Bania, said that the road was damaged again by last night's rain. He said that the road would be repaired and brought into operation as soon as the weather improves. Similarly, Dasharath Danuwar, a local, informed that the road was blocked due to mud on the hump pipe made in Phatte to connect Melamchi and Duvachaur. Local Yama Jyoti said that the hump pipe placed in Chanaute of Helambu was safe.

The road network was broken due to the floods on June 15 and July 31. Hume pipes were installed in different places and the road was brought into operation.
