Tribhuvan International Airport will Prosecute Unfamiliar Goods

 Nov 29, Kathmandu- Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office has said that the passengers coming to Nepal from abroad will be confiscated if they bring more than the prescribed amount of gold and gold jewelry, mobile phones, laptops, and alcohol.

 

The office said in a statement that the government would take action against those who brought more than the stipulated amount. The office has clarified that action will be taken if Nepali passengers coming to Nepal via Tribhuvan International Airport bring such items in large quantities.

 

The office has stated that the passengers are not aware of the prevailing legal provisions and other unidentified people have been sending such material by tricking them.

 

It has been informed that only 50 grams of gold jewelry, a laptop, a mobile phone, and a bottle of liquor up to one liter can be brought for customs duty exemption for personal use when Nepali citizens go abroad and return home.

 

The information issued by the office states that gold ornaments weighing more than 50 grams and up to 200 grams can be inspected and passed through customs duty.

 

It is mentioned that a maximum of 100 grams of gold of any type other than gold jewelry for personal use can be checked and passed with customs duty and more than that amount of gold will be confiscated.

 

It has been informed that if more than one laptop and mobile phone is brought for personal use, a customs duty will be levied and in case of more than one bottle of liquor, it will be confiscated.

 

Everyone's requested not to bring such items unless they are sure that no other illegal items are hidden in the items given by the unknown person.

 

The customs office has warned the concerned passengers to take action if any unknown or common acquaintance requests to deliver various goods to their relatives and if gold, silver, or other illegal items are found hidden in such goods during the inspection at the customs.
