Bimalendra Nidhi Will Not Support Deuba In The Second Phase

Dec 12, Kathmandu- Nepali Congress President Bimalendra Nidhi has declared that he will not support Sher Bahadur Deuba if the second round of elections is held.

Talking to reporters at Bhrikutimandap on Sunday, Nidhi said, "In the first phase, no one seems to get more than 50 percent of the votes." Then, in the second phase, elections are held for the post of chairman. At that time, we are all one except Deuba. '

Along with Sher Bahadur Deuba, Prakash Man Singh, Shekhar Koirala, and Kalyan Gurung, Nidhi has also registered his candidature for the post.

Earlier, it was speculated that Nidhi, who was in the Deuba faction, could help Deuba in the second phase. However, contrary to everyone's expectations, Nidhi has revealed that he will join the Deuwaitar group in the second phase.

Lately, the relationship between Deuba and Nidhi has been strained. Although Nidhi has announced his candidature for the post, Deuba has not shown any interest in him. Instead, Krishna Prasad has coordinated with Sitaula.

Nidhi, who has announced his candidature for the post of chairman, has not been able to form a full panel of office bearers, which has raised the possibility of his dismissal from the first round.

While it is being analyzed that there will be competition between Deuba and Shekhar Koirala in the first phase and Nidhi will also be out along with Singh, Nidhi has said that no one will get 50 percent votes in the first phase.

According to the Nepali Congress constitution, the presidential candidate must get more than 50 percent votes to win. There is a provision in the constitution for re-voting between the first and second candidates in the second phase if no one gets 50 percent of the votes.

In the previous 13th General Convention, when Sher Bahadur Deuba, Ram Chandra Poudel, and Krishna Prasad Sitaula were competing, Deuba had garnered 50 percent of the votes. In the second round, Sitaula was out and Deuba and Poudel were re-elected.
