Dec 16, Kathmandu- At the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress, five doctors from the President to the General Secretary had given their candidacies.

Presidential candidate Dr. Shekhar Koirala is a doctor in the field of medicine while four others have done a doctorate in various fields.

Congress vice president, Chandra Bhandari had given his candidature while Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, Dr. Minendra Rijal, and Dr. Rajaram Karki had given his candidature.

However, Congress voters have defeated all the five doctors. In a post of chairman, Dr. Shekhar Koirala was defeated by Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Similarly, in the election for the two posts of vice-president, Defeating Chandra Bhandari, Purna Bahadur Khadka, and Dhanraj Gurung were elected. Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, Mahesh Acharya, and Sujata Koirala also contested for the post.

General Secretary candidate Dr. Mahat, Dr. Rijal and Dr. Gagan Thapa, and Bishwaprakash Sharma defeated Karki.

Another General Secretary candidate Pradip Poudel has also been defeated.
