Booster Dose Against Coronavirus From Today

Jan 16, Kathmandu- The government has decided to give an additional booster dose of vaccine to the people at the forefront of prevention, control and treatment of coronavirus from today (Sunday).

The Ministry of Health and Population has decided to give a booster dose to people who have completed six months of full vaccination against the coronavirus. According to the same decision, it will be given to the person who will be in the forefront from today.

According to Anju Basnet, Public Health Officer of the Health Services Department, booster doses will be given to the frontline workers from today and to the citizens above 60 years of age.

As per the ministerial decision of the Ministry of Health, booster dose will be given to the citizens who have completed 6 months of vaccination.

The department has sent letters to the state health directorate, state health supply management center and health offices of all 77 districts to make necessary arrangements for this.

According to the ministry, health workers and staff working in hospitals and health institutions, all security personnel, media personnel, public garbage collectors, sanitation workers, ambulance and hearse drivers, women health volunteers, staff at Tribhuvan International Airport will get booster dose. Similarly, booster dose will also be given to government offices, community service delivery organizations, banking services, public transport drivers and co-drivers.

The senior citizens above 60 years of age and those with low immunity are also being prepared to be given booster dose vaccine from the 26th of next month. Patients with low immunity include active cancer patients, organ transplant patients, HIV patients, and patients taking immunosuppressive drugs during treatment.
