Jajarkot At High Risk Of Earthquake

Jan 17, Kathmandu -Jajarkot is at high risk of an earthquake. Chief of the Infrastructure Development Office, Jajarkot, Pravin Karki said that most of the structures being constructed in the hilly district of Jajarkot were against seismic standards.

Karki said that the new structure should be strengthened from now on as the earthquake would not come with an early warning. Stating that there were major earthquakes between 1311 and 1990, Karki said that earthquakes occur between 60 and 100 years.

Earthquake Day has been celebrated in Nepal since 2055 BS. Chief District Officer Preprasad Devkota said that everyone should focus on building seismic awareness safe structures."We can't stop earthquakes," Devkota said. "We need to focus on building infrastructure to stay safe from earthquakes."

Chief of the Drinking Water, Energy and Irrigation Development Office, Jwala Raj Shahi, said that the building should be constructed following the building code of conduct while constructing the building in Jajarkot district.


Jajarkot Police Chief Madhukamar Thapa suggested building earthquake-resistant infrastructure to stay safe from the quake.
