Snowfall Halts Development Work In Manang

Jan 18, Kathmandu- Development work in the Himalayan district, Manang has come to a standstill due to snow and cold. The construction work has been stopped due to snow and cold.

Chief District Officer of Manang, Rabindra Prasad Acharya, said that the construction work of bridges, roads and other structures damaged due to the severe floods and landslides of last September was halted due to snowfall.

He said, "Development work has been affected due to the snowfall as the construction of roads and bridges destroyed by the floods and landslides has to be intensified".

According to Chief District Officer Acharya, due to landslides and floods during summer, the construction work could not be carried out as the materials could not be transported. Construction work was halted in the winter due to snowfall as vehicle movement was not possible.

Floods and landslides in Manang have caused more damage to physical infrastructure this year than in previous years. The construction work of the physical infrastructure damaged by the floods and landslides is also in a state of neglect. Both the snow and monsoon seasons in Manang are not conducive to the weather, said Chandra Ghale, chairman of Nasong village in Manang.
