Feb 11, Kathmandu-The 11th Pushpalal Memorial Ranking National Badminton Tournament will be supported by sports equipment manufacturer Lining.
National Badminton Association President Birendra Shrestha informed that an agreement has been reached to support the competition through the lining. With Linning as the main sponsor, the competition will now be called 'Lining 11th Pushpalal Memorial Ranking National Badminton Tournament'.
The National Badminton Association under the Nepal Sports Federation has been organizing the event since 2011 AD in memory of Pushpalal Shrestha, the founding leader of the Communist Party of Nepal. Nakhipot Youth Club-Badminton Circle has emerged as the joint organizer of the competition.
Association General Secretary Sunil Man Shakya informed that all the preparations for the competition have been completed. The competition will be held in Nakhipot of Lalitpur from February 15 to 19
. More than 50 players from 47 districts affiliated to the Nepal Badminton Association, Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force will participate in the tournament which will be held with the technical assistance of the Nepal Badminton Association.
Men's singles (up to 16th place in national rankings), men's singles (except 16th place), men's doubles (open), women's singles (up to 12th place in national rankings), women's singles (except 12th place), women's doubles (open) under 17 age.
According to the organizers, the competition will be held in 10 categories including men's and women's singles (open), veterans over 45 years, and masters over 55 years (open). A total of Rs 2.16 million will be spent on the competition and Rs 598,000 will be spent on prizes.
Players competing in the men's singles 9 national rankings up to 16th place and women's singles up to 912th place in the league stage will receive Rs. 1,500 for participating in the competition. Similarly, each player who wins the league stage will receive an additional Rs 1,500.
Similarly, the winner of the quarterfinals will receive an additional Rs 8,000 and the winner of the semi-finals will receive an additional Rs 16,000. The winner of the final will receive an additional Rs 20,000 and the runner-up will receive an additional Rs 5,000, according to the organizers.
In other categories, men's singles 916th place and 0 women's singles (except 12th place), men's and women's doubles, veterans over 45 years and masters doubles over 55 years, the first place winner will get Rs 20,000, second place winner will get Rs 10,000 and third place winner will get Rs 5,000.
The first-place winner in U-17 men's and women's singles will get Rs 15,000, the second-place winner will get Rs 8,000, and the third-place winner will get Rs 4,000.
