Xiaomi Plans To Overtake Apple In High-end Smartphones

Feb 13, Kathmandu- Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi is set to invest in high-end smartphones to expand its market. The company's chief executive officer (CEO) Lei Jun has said that Xiaomi will now appear to challenge Apple's presence in the high-end.

To this end, he has instructed his staff to work towards establishing itself as the world's largest smartphone company based on mobile sales within the next three years. For that, the company will focus on high-end smartphones, he said.

The company is currently offering Android phones at affordable prices in three different brands namely Xiaomi (formerly Mi), Redmi and Poko. Apple is known for its premium smartphones.

So Xiaomi is trying to come up with a strategy to compete with Apple's tagline. The company has started this in 2021.

With a 17 percent market share, it became the second-largest smartphone company in the world, and at the same time, the company said that its focus was now on high-end.

The company has decided to spend USD 15.7 billion on research into high-end smartphones.

With this plan for the next five years, the company plans to break Apple's dominance in the high-end.

Whether the company will succeed in this scheme or not will be decided in the coming days. However, the company's research project is expected to pose some challenges for Apple.
