Feb 15, Kathmandu- Locals have donated 18 ropanis and 14 acres of land worth around Rs 6 million for the construction of a 15-bed hospital in Bangad Kupinde Municipality of the district. Twenty-eight locals of Bangad Kupinde Municipality-1, Amra have donated land for the construction of the hospital as they do not have to go out for treatment in their own municipality.
A local who donated land for the construction of the hospital said that the land would be used for the construction of the hospital as the locals would be comfortable in the treatment and would no longer have to spend a lot of money for general treatment. He also expressed happiness over the construction of a hospital in his own backyard. "Until now, all the patients have been forced to go to Nepalgunj and Surkhet as there is no hospital in Bangad Kupinde Municipality. Many have lost their lives on the way to the hospital as it takes a long time to reach. If a well-equipped hospital is built in the village, no one will have to lose his life in the village”, he said.
Hirmi Kumari Bohara, who donated 12 acres of land, said she was happy that a hospital would be built in the village. She said that she was happy to donate the land for producing her crops after the construction of the hospital. She urged the locals to build the hospital as soon as possible by making good use of the land provided for the construction of the hospital.
Basudev Pokharel, health chief of Bangad Kupinde Municipality, Salyan, said that work on a 15-bed hospital will start soon in Bangad Kupinde Municipality after the locals provide land. He said that the hospital would be a great relief to the locals of the municipality and the locals of neighboring districts.
According to him, the federal government had allocated a budget by implementing the concept of one local level hospital but due to lack of land, the 15-bed hospital was limited to the foundation stone for two years. He said that all the procedures have been taken forward after the land was acquired and a tender worth Rs. 180 million has already been issued.
The land was donated by 28 locals of Bangad Kupinde Municipality 1 Amra for the construction of the 15-bed hospital.
