What Are Written Agreement Between Federation of Teachers and Ministry of Education?

Mar 5, Kathmandu- A written agreement has been signed between the Nepal Federation of Teachers and the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology to implement the 51-point report to address the discrimination and injustice in the education sector.

It seems to have started a new debate to change the social attitude towards teachers who have been discriminated against for years. There is a legal provision for teachers to be made permanent through the Teachers Service Commission and civil servants through the Public Service Commission.

According to the law of both the states, they are permanently subordinate to the state and serve the nation in their respective areas. That is to say since there is competition on the basis of equal educational and desirable qualifications and permanent, there should be no discrimination between the two. There is no difference of opinion. Therefore, the recent agreement reached between the Ministry and the Teachers Federation to minimize discrimination in the rights and entitlements of civil servants and teachers has become a welcome step for all teachers, professionals, and labor movement leaders.

If this agreement is implemented, it will prove to be a stepping stone for growth and development in the education sector, especially based on the equality of teachers and school staff. The agreement seeks to ensure health, accident insurance, and tourism.

Similarly, it is commendable that the relief of the former teachers, school staff, and child teachers by placing the teachers in different categories, by converting the quota into approved posts, and making them permanent through the internal and open competition without any age limit from the Teachers Service Commission. By doing this, good, capable, and competitive people will get the proper place. Society will also be able to enjoy the permanence of strong teachers.
