Third National Men's Hockey Tournament Being Held In Biratnagar

Mar 07, Kathmandu- The third national men's hockey tournament is being held in Biratnagar in the first week of Chaitra.

A national hockey tournament is being organized at the Martyrs' Stadium in Biratnagar from March 22 to 26 in memory of Late Girija Prasad Koirala. Competition coordinator Ranjan Thapa informed that the competition could not be continued due to the spread of coronavirus.

The departmental teams of Nepal Army as well as Province 1, Madhesh Province, Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province, Lumbini Province, and Far Western Province are participating in the competition. Thapa informed that preparations for the competition have already started. The winner of the competition will receive Rs 50,000 cash, the runner-up Rs 35,000, and the third-place team will receive Rs 15,000 in cash and a trophy.

Gandaki Province had won the first edition held in Jhapa in 2075 BS and Lumbini Province had defeated Gandaki 5-3 in the tiebreaker in the second edition held in Biratnagar in 2076 BS.
