Apr 11, Kathmandu-The first female comedian in the Nepali film industry Basundhara Bhusal who was born in Feb 1951 AD. Basundhara Bhusal is a Nepali movie and theater actor. She was one of the actresses in the first Nepali movie Aama (2021 BS).
Since then, she has acted in at least 135 feature films and 60 TV programs.She started her career in theater, acting in plays at the Rastriya Nachghar since the 1960s. Some of her notable films are EK Number Ko Pakhe ,Truck Driver, Hijo Aaja Bholi, (first Nepali film under a private banner and fourth overall), Paral Ko Aago (adapted from eponymous story by Guru Prasad Mainali ), Chhaka Panja (second highest grossing Nepali film of all time) and Prasad (2018 film)
She received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the National film Award (Nepal) in 2016. Bhusal is the co-founder and president of Bhuwan Chaitya Basundhara Foundation. She is known to volunteer for social awareness programs to help educate the public on important issues.She has spoken about gender pay gap in the Nepali movie industry.
Speaking on the Headline Nepal Bishesh program with Presenter Sanjeeb Regmi, she said that she is constantly fighting for artists. Saying that there is no need for filmmakers to walk around crying when they die, she also informed that about Rs 40 million is being deposited in the film workers' welfare fund.
She said that the Film Development Board was also born on their own initiative.She also claimed that she is fighting not only for acting but also for the rights of filmmakers. In a different context, she scolded Paul Shah, saying, "Paul is a very kind man. He is of the same type as I do by serving the society. He and I have the same nature. '
She said that she was trapped under some restrictions and that she was saddened by the arrest. He is saddened that the story that was delayed for a couple of years has been revived. According to him, it would have been better if the hair had been combed from within the association without being taken out.
