One Day Athletics Meet Completed

April 25, Kathmandu- The Consulate General of India in Birgunj has organized an athletics meet under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (India @ 75).

A one-day athletics meet had been organized at Narayani Stadium in Birgunj on April 23. The athletics meet was inaugurated by General Secretary Nitesh Kumar by showing the flag. The meeting was attended by about 100 players from the Consulate General of India in Birgunj, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Birgunj Municipal Corporation, Department of Telecommunications, Department of Electricity, Gyanda Academy, DPS, and D.A.V R.B Kedia School, and civil society of Birgunj.

7 track events (100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m, 4x100m relay, and 4x400m relay) and 4 field events (long jump, high jump, discus throw, and putt) were organized at the meet.

Consul General Nitesh Kumar presented 51 prizes to the winners, including 51 prizes for individual events, 1 shield for the best player, and 1 trophy for the best team. The team of Birgunj Municipal Corporation was declared the best team and Sangita Yadav of the same team was declared the best player. In terms of performance, the Armed Police Force was second and D.A.V R.B Kedia School and the Consulate General of India were behind.

This is the first athletics meet organized by the Consulate General of India in Birgunj since its establishment nearly two decades ago. The purpose of the program was to highlight the importance of health and well-being and promote people-to-people contacts as well as promote harmony, coordination, and cooperation between the Consulate and various government agencies and civil society in Birgunj.
