May 12, Kathmandu- Chairman of the Muslim Commission Salim Miya Ansari is under police control on charges of distributing money to buy voters.
Ansari, who was accused of distributing money to win the Janakpur sub-metropolitan mayoral candidate Janakiram Sahal, was arrested by the police from room number 305 of Hotel Sitasharan in Janakpurdham around 11:30 this morning. Sahal had given his candidature from 'Swatantra' after he did not get a ticket from UML.
UML supporters had surrounded Hotel Sitasharan saying that Ansari was distributing money to buy voters. Strict security was put in place by the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force (APF) as UML supporters surrounded the hotel.
After the UML supporters started shouting amidst tight security, a police team deployed from the District Police Office, Dhanusha, rescued Chairman Ansari without any investigation and took him to the airport. Police had charged sticks after UML supporters started attacking the Police in the Assari while rescuing the Ansari. In the process of rescuing Chairman Ansari, Police also charged batons after UML supporters started attacking the police vehicle in which Ansari was sitting.
