May 28, Kathmandu: A rape case has also been filed against actor Paul Shah in the Tanahu District Court.
The government prosecutor's office has filed a case against Shah on the basis of a complaint filed by a 16-year-old girl. According to Chief District Attorney Ram Chandra Sharma of the District Government Attorney's Office, Tanahu, the case has been filed claiming that he has committed an offense under Section 219, 1, and 2 of the Criminal Code, 2017 AD.
The said article of the law states that if a man takes part in sexual activities without a woman's consent, it will be considered rape and even if a woman under the age of 18 is part in sexual activities without her consent, it is still considered rape.
Punishment has been demanded against Shah in accordance with Article 219 (3) (c) of the Criminal Code,2017 AD. Those who rape a girl between the ages of 14 and 16 will be sentenced to 12 to 14 years in prison. After the girl had filed a complaint against Shah at the District Police Office, Nawalparasi East, another case has been filed against Shah in Tanahun.
Speaking on the Headline Nepal Bishesh program with Presenter Sanjeeb Regmi, lawyer Yagyamani Neupane said the hearing of actor Paul Shaha's case, who is in jail for trial on the charge of raping a minor has also been postponed on Thursday.
According to court sources, Shah's lawyer has canceled the hearing which was scheduled to be held in Pokhara High Court today. Shah's case will be heard next Thursday. Shah who was in custody by the Tanahu and Nawalpur District Courts on charges of rape has filed a petition in the Pokhara High Court against the order.
