Kabaddi 4 Sets Record: 29 Million Gross Opening!

May 28, Kathmandu: The fourth series of 'Kabaddi' has set an opening record at the Nepali box office. The film which was released in 150 halls across the country, earned Rs 29 million on Friday. The earnings are the opening business record of any Nepali film at the domestic box office. Earlier, 'Chakkapanja 2' had earned Rs 18 million on the first day of its release.

Kabaddi 4 has been directed by Rambabu Gurung and earned more than Rs 10 million from the main multiplex chain QFX alone. According to producer Maniram Pokhrel, Kathmandu and Mofasal have an equal share in the opening.

As it is a much-awaited series, the film also set another record of selling more than Rs 1.5 crore in advance at the box office. Occupancy was almost 100 percent on Friday. Not only multiplexes but also single screens were operated with full occupancy. On the second day, Saturday, the film's earnings are expected to rise. The hall has been full of spectators since morning. Hall operators said that the opening of Kabaddi Four was unprecedented in the history of Nepali films.

It is said that the opening of Kabaddi Four has been aggressive due to popular sequels, Starcast, and the expansion of halls across the country. The film starring Dayahang Rai, Saugat Malla, and Miruna Magar has been released simultaneously in Australia, the UK, and the US. The film which has already secured investment before its release has earned only Rs 20 million from abroad.
