Jun 7, Kathmandu:  Ganga Chaudhary Satgauwa is a Nepali politician and a member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. She is also a member of the Women and Social Welfare Committee of the parliament.

She was elected under the proportional representation system from  CPN-UMLof the left alliance in the  2017 legislative elections. . She had defected to UML immediately prior to the election, without informing her previous party Naya Sakti Party Nepal which also included her name in the list of party candidates. Chaudhary later informed the election commission of her allegiance to UML.

Chaudhary was previously elected to the 2nd Constituent Assembly also through the proportional representation system, from Tharuhat Terai Party Nepal After the promulgation of the constitution. She led the Parliamentary legislative committee in the legislature committee   (which was formed as per the redefined role of the constituent assembly)

She was accused of acting against party interests and trying to form a breakaway faction in 2016 Ad and was expelled from the party. Following the expulsion, she joined the Naya Sakti Party and was considered close to  Baburam Bhattrai.

However, owing to the possibility that the party wouldn't cross the required three percent threshold of voter support in the 2017 elections. She chose to go back to CPN UML, the party she was previously affiliated with before she joined the Tharu nationalist struggle. Following the merger of CPN UML with the Maoist party to form the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) she represents the newly formed party in parliament.

Speaking on the Headline Nepal Bishesh program with Presenter Sanjeeb Regmi, she said I have requested the government not to legislate on the issue of rape and sexual violence. Chaudhary claimed that the tendency to file rape cases has increased after a love affair and disagreement.

She also keeps the view that such a trend will increase if the deadline is extended. "The law should not be weakened," she said. Parliament is not a place for making laws out of emotion. Making laws is not just for one community, one class. It is necessary to make laws based on the real situation of the Nepali people. '

She took the example of former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara and actor Pal Shah in Parliament, she said that the tendency to accuse love affair of rape has increased. She said, ‘As long as you feel like it then it is called love. After that, when one's selfishness is not fulfilled then it is called rape. We have also seen the incident with the former Speaker. As long as selfishness is found, no one will know. He (Mahara) was jailed for 6 months after being accused of rape. We must not forget that incident. '

"Being a woman means understanding not only the feelings of women but also the feelings of men. As far as the recent case of Pal Shah and the singer is concerned, it should be termed as love, if selfishness is not fulfilled, it should be termed as rape. We had also witnessed the incident of the former speaker of the same house.

She also said that if the time limit is removed in the rape case, the case will be settled in court. He said that laws should be made not only in favor of women but also in favor of men. She also said that the age of marriage should be reduced from 20 years.
