Nepal’s Defeat In Asia Under-12 Team Tennis

June 13, Kathmandu:  Nepal has lost in the ITF Asia Under-12 Team Tennis Tournament (Regional Qualifying Event South Asia). Both the men’s and women’s teams of Nepal had to face defeat.

In the women’s section, Sri Lanka beat Nepal 3-0. In singles, Mayuran defeated Adit Nepal 6-0, 6-2 and Somaratna defeated Vrajesh Aryal 6-4, 6-4 in straight sets. In doubles, Mayuran and Muthuthanthary defeated Vrajesh and Ashwasamrat Hada 6-2, 6-2 in straight sets.

In the men’s section, Bangladesh beat the Maldives and India beat Bhutan 3-0. Maldives beat Nepal 2-1 in the women’s tournament organized by Nepal Tennis Association at Satdobato Tennis Complex. In the first singles, Pragya Manandhar defeated Kalim 6-1, 6-2 in straight sets.

In the second match, Nishan defeated Shivali Gurung 6-1, 3-6, and 6-4 to level 1-1. In the final, Nishan and Ali defeated Shivali and Pragya 6-0, 6-2. In other matches, Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh and India beat Bhutan 3–0. The tournament was inaugurated by National Sports Council member secretary Tank Lal Ghising. Seven South Asian countries are participating in the competition.

The number of male and female players is equal in all except Pakistan. Only three male players from Pakistan are participating in this. Nepal has organized the competition for the third time. The first and second-placed countries will be able to participate in the final to be held in Kazakhstan.
