Jun 17, Kathmandu: Parliamentary Committee on International Relations has decided to convene a discussion to clarify the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to the United States. The decision was taken at a meeting of the committee held on Friday. It has been decided to call Prime Minister Deuba in the meeting to be held on July 19, said Pavitra Niraula Kharel, chairperson of the committee.
In today's meeting, the issue of the SPP agreement was discussed in the International Relations Committee of the Parliament on Friday. The committee has held discussions with Foreign Minister Narayan Khadka and Chief of Army Staff Prabhuram Sharma.
During the discussion, the lawmakers questioned the Foreign Minister and the Chief of Army Staff regarding the SPP. He also said that the SPP agreement was not in the interest of the country. Replying to this, Chief of Army Staff Prabhuram Sharma said that it was true that the letter was written to the United States but it was not for military understanding. Similarly, Foreign Minister Narayan Khadka had said that the chapter of the SPP agreement had been closed.
