Jun 22, Kathmandu: A task force formed by the Lumbini state government to probe Minister of State for Health Bimala Wali has started work. An investigation team led by Internal Affairs and Communications Minister Tilak Ram Sharma arrived in Dang on Tuesday evening.
They are preparing to visit Meena Bhandari Basnet's house today to find out about the incident. The local police officer is also preparing to investigate the incident. The cabinet meeting of the state government held on June 15 had formed a task force to investigate the incident of Minister of State Wali.
Minister for Women, Children, and Law Rama Gharti Magar and Chief Justice Shrikrishna Subedi are members of the task force. Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Wali of Lumbini had beaten up Meena Bhandari Basnet and her daughter of Alumandi in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan Ward No. 5 of Dang on Tuesday morning.
Police then took him under control. He was taken to Butwal on the night of the incident under the direction of Chief Minister Kul Prasad KC. He was later admitted to Lumbini State Hospital for treatment.
Meena Basnet had lodged a complaint at the Area Police Office alleging that she and her daughter had been beaten. Meena has demanded action against Minister of State Wali for entering the house and beating her and her daughter.
Last August, it was made public that there was a love affair between YCL leader Ekraj Basnet, who is also Meena's husband, and Minister of State Wali. However, in recent times, the Minister of State Wali has been saying that he was conspiring to deceive Ekraj when he went to his house to collect the loan amount.
