Ferdinand Marcos Jr Sworn In As Philippine President

Jun 30, Kathmandu: Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr was sworn in as the 17th president of the Philippines on Thursday at the National Museum in Manila in front of thousands of people who witnessed the inauguration.

The Marcos family has made a strong return to state power in the Philippines since Marcos Jr. became president. The family was out of power after the 1986 uprising. A daughter of outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte i.e. Sarah Duterte has been appointed vice president.

The president and vice president were sworn in at the National Museum in Manila today. A large number of guests from home and abroad have been invited for the oath. Ferdinand, the father of newly elected President Marcos, ruled the Philippines from 1965 to 1986.

But in 1986, after millions of people took to the streets against the Marcos family, the Marcos fled the country. The current president, Marcos Jr. was 28 years old. The Marcos family returned home in 1991.
