Solukhumbu Became The 58th Literate District

Jul 11, Kathmandu: Solukhumbu has been declared the 58th literate district. It was announced under the slogan 'Literate Nepal, Basis of Prosperity, Literate Solukhumbu, Our Pride, Pledge of All: Strengthening Public Education System'.

Member of the House of Representatives Hem Kumar Rai declared the district literate on the proposal of declaring the district literate submitted by the Chief of the District Coordination Committee Krishna Prasad Niraula. MP Rai said that Nepal has not been able to achieve the expected results in quality education due to policy weaknesses. State MP Buddhi Kumar Rajbhandari said that the responsibility of making an educated district is in the hands of teachers.

Coordinating Chief and Literacy Campaign Solukhumbu Coordinator Krishna Prasad Niraula said that the national policy should be changed for quality educational change. District President of the Nepali Congress and Mayor of Soludhudhkund Municipality Namgel Jangbu Sherpa said that the stakeholders need to be continuously active to give continuity to the literate district.

At the program, the village chairpersons expressed concern over the weakness in the implementation of the education policy and said that the expected achievement has not been achieved as per the investment made in education. The people's representative said that the stakeholders should be serious to solve the problems seen in the education sector.

Secretary at the Ministry of Social Development, Province No. 1, Dir Gharaj Mainali, said that the province has become literate with the declaration of Solukhumbu as a literate district. Certificates have been awarded with respect to the organizations working in the field of education in the program.
