Jul 20, Kathmandu: 3 new fire stations have been added in the Kathmandu metropolis. Tenders were invited for the purchase of fire engines in the month of February 2020 AD. The German company Ziegler Indonesia operating in Indonesia was selected. The company sent the goods from Indonesia at a price of 72.1 million rupees excluding tax.
The engine capacity of the fire engine is 270 horsepower. The fire engine has the capacity to draw and dump 3,000 liters of water per minute. Similarly, they can shoot water fountains up to 60 meters away. At the same time, it can throw water with pressure from 4 discharge lines and draw water from 2 suction lines.
The fire engine, which has a tank of 3,000 liters of water and 500 liters of foam, can mix the foam with the water itself. The sprinkler monitor has the ability to rotate 360 degrees and sprinkle water 80 degrees straight up.
Weighing more than 8,000 kg, these fire engines are Antilock Brake systems (ABS). Fire extinguishers with 3 years warranty have ABC-type fire extinguishers, 4 winding parts, 2 aluminum pipes 5 meters long, a 2000 watt capacity generator, 2 spotlights, nylon ropes, pipes and nozzles, and other materials and equipment. The 8-meter long and 2.5-meter wide fire extinguishers can fight domestic, petroleum, and gas fires.
Mayor Balen Shah said that the metropolis has been working to prevent fires and reduce damage. 3 fire engines have now arrived in the metropolis as part of the fire engine procurement process that started during the time of the former mayor of the city, Vidyasundar Shakya. According to Shah, the damage caused by fire can be reduced by making the best use of fire engines in a scientific way.
Mayor Balen Sah said that densely populated areas like Kathmandu have a high risk of fire and limited control due to their own structural defects. He said, "In such areas, we must be more aware and careful about fire." Avoiding fire accidents is the best option. Never fool around with fire. In addition to the new one, the city currently has 5 fire engines in operation, 2 of which can work at full capacity and 3 of which can be used for support.
