Jul 22, Kathmandu- The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) bid farewell to the Nepali youth team that will participate in the SAFF U-20 Championship starting next week in India. National Sports Council (NSC) Member-Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising, ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nemwang, and other ANFA officials bid farewell to the Nepali team at the ANFA headquarters in Satdobato on Friday.
The Nepalese team will leave for India this afternoon. ANFA announced a 23-member squad for the tournament on Monday. Rohit Subba has been called into the team to replace Dipesh Rai due to his injury.
The Nepali team's chief coach is Meghraj KC, manager Diwakar Ghale and captain Ayush Ghalan. Nepal, India, Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh will participate in the tournament which will be held from July 25 to August 5 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
Nepal will start the SAFF U-20 Championship with a match against Maldives on July 25. After that, Nepal will play with Sri Lanka on July 27, home team India on July 31, and Bangladesh on August 2. The top two teams will compete for the title on August 5.
