Jul 25, Kathmandu: National Assembly member Bam Dev Gautam has said that women who want to get married citizenship should make arrangements to renounce their country's citizenship.
Speaking during the discussion on the Nepal Citizenship (First AmendmentBill 2022 AD) at the National Assembly meeting on Monday, Gautam said that there should be a provision to give up the citizenship of one's country before acquiring citizenship by marriage.
He said, "The system that has been established in our country in relation to citizenship by marriage should be corrected a few things," he said. He said that citizenship should be granted only after completing that process. Although the government has brought a bill to solve the problem of citizenship, he insists that some provisions should be corrected.
