Locals Of Banchare Danda Demanded Garbage Not To Be Thrown At Their Place

Jul 28. Kathmandu- Local residents have announced that they will not allow garbage to be dumped at the Sisdol-Banchare Danda landfill site in Kathmandu Valley forever.

In a press conference on Thursday, the Banchare Danda Landfill Site Concern Committee announced that they will not allow garbage to be dumped in the valley from Bhadra 1 forever.

Shree Ram Dhungana, the coordinator of the concerned committee, informed that the committee announced that they would not allow garbage to be dumped, saying that the metropolis did not work according to the agreement and tried to ignore the residents of Banchare Danda by looking for landfill sites in other places in the valley.

He said that the committee has also informed the Prime Minister's Office and Ministry of Urban Development about this issue.

He says that the government has only two options if they want to throw garbage from the 1st of Bhadra. Dhungana said, "The government will be allowed to choose only one of the landfill site development area without human settlement or the human settlement development area without garbage pollution. Only if we guarantee to protect the livelihood of the people of Banchare Danda and fulfill our demands, the waste will be allowed to go from the 1st of Bhadra.
