Aug 22, Kathmandu: The premiere of the movie 'Prakash' was completed in Tirkhu which is a remote village of Jumla.
The Pradeep Khadka starrer film was premiered on Sunday evening in the premises of Anam Moksha Secondary School located in Tirkhu village of Patarasi district.
In the village where there is no film hall, the film is shown through a projector. Due to the lack of electricity, the film team even took a generator for the premiere.
Actor Pradeep Khadka and writer Bikas Subedi attended the premiere. Both of them were welcomed by the local elders with garlands and feda according to the local rituals.
The film was shot in Tirkhu village itself for 45 days. Director Dinesh Raut said that the film premiered among the local people as the first audience because the story was told through the language, culture, lifestyle and customs of Jumla.
The local residents who watched the film at the premiere have responded that they liked the film very much.
They expressed happiness that they could watch their own experience in the movie. The local residents praised the movie by saying that Jumla was shown in the movie.
After the premiere, a local responded that while watching the movie, he felt as if he saw his brother-son, daughter, mother on the screen.
Many local residents have also said that they can clearly see the class discrimination they are experiencing in the movie.According to them, everyone should watch the movie to understand their real life style.
There was a significant participation of local residents in the premiere. Because the movie was shown on the projector in the school premises, the locals sat on the ground and watched the movie.
After the reaction of the local people, Pradeep Khadka said that the premiere of Prakash was a memorable moment for him. Pradeep who is loved by the locals is excited by the response to the movie.
He said that while he was working on 'Prakash', he received unexpected love and response from the locals. According to him, the reaction of the locals that we looked like our own brothers and sons gave meaning to his character.
On the other hand, writer Bikas Subedi was also very excited. He said that he has written the movie according to his thoughts and the locals have seen the movie and reacted accordingly. He believes that the success of the movie is the fact that they show that there is someone who speaks for us. The local residents have praised that their experiences have been well portrayed.
The film directed by Dinesh Raut tells the story of a young man's struggle to become a teacher. The issue of caste discrimination has also been raised through the main characters. The movie stars Pradeep Khadka, Diya Maske, Renu Yogi, Prakash Ghimire, Niraj Panthi, Govind Sunuwar, Rambabu Regmi, Lokendra Ukhtar, Dipendra Shahi and others.
The movie has cinematography by Rajesh Shrestha, editing by Jeevan Thapa, music by Subas Bhushal, Deepak Sharma, Tara Prakash Limbu and Alice Karki, sound design by Uttam Neupane and background score by Shailesh Shrestha.
Produced by Mahendra Adhikari, the film is distributed by Rohit Kattel and Ratna Shrestha of RR Films. The film, which will be screened from Friday, has organized its Kathmandu premiere on Wednesday.
