Sept 05, Kathmandu- Tek Raj Poudel is a leader who has been playing a leading role in the Nepali Congress for three decades.

Poudel of Baglung 2 has been continuously winning party candidacy since 2048 till the current election. He is also a constant participant in various movements and programs. In the 2048 general election, when Omkar Gauchan contested the election, he was even beaten up on election day by Janamorcha. At that time, he had gone to Thapa village of Jhiwa Khola to collect voters.

Leader Poudel was also in police custody for a whole day when he participated in the 2046 movement. Being a member of Poudel College, he became in charge of 'Nepal Student Union', Dhauragiri Zone in 2051. In 2053, he became a campus member of 'Independent Students Union' and in 2058, he became a central member of Nepal Student Union (NSU). Bishwa Prakash Sharma was the central member. In 2060, when Gururaj Ghimire was the member and Gagan Thapa was the general minister of NSU, he became the co-general minister. In the year 2061, when Keshav Singh was a member, he got the opportunity to become the Co-Chief Minister again. He also played a leading role in the movement of 2062/063. Along with being in police custody, he was also injured in the protest.

In 2069, when Udaya Shamser Rana was the president of 'Nepal Tarun Dal', he became a central member. In the 12th, 13th, and 14th General Convention of the party, he became the convention representative from Baglung. But in the 14th convention, he was defeated as a central member of the Nepali Congress by a small number of votes.

In 2003, he got the opportunity to participate in the program of the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY) in European countries on behalf of the United Nations. He also visited around 15 to 20 countries. But he never left the country and fled. Even though many of his friends were staying abroad, he wanted to stay in Nepal with the spirit of contributing to social service. He has done plenty of social work in various fields in Nepal. From contributing to health camps to helping victims of floods and landslides, he continued to help even during the coronavirus. Simple, honest and committed to integrity, Poudel is equally active in development works.

He arranged budgets from various ministries and departments for roads, bridges, water irrigation, school buildings, labs, and libraries. Paudel's name has been recommended for the upcoming election by the Nepali Congress in Baglung-2. It seems certain that he will get the ticket. Party chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba, senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel, Dr. Shekhar Koirala, Dr. Shashank Koirala, Purna Bahadur Khadka, Balkrishna Khand, Deena Upadhyay, NP Saud, and other leaders are also well-known about Poudel's honesty and investment towards the party and the society.

Because his associate and veteran Congress leaders Dhanraj Gurung, Gagan Thapa, Bishwa Prakash Sharma, Kishor Rathore, and Badri Pandey are at distributing tickets. If his mates are distributing election tickets, when will they get tickets? The activists and people of Baglung-2 are confident that Poudel will get justice this time and contest the election on behalf of Congress.
