At Least 11 Children Killed In Myanmar School Airstrike

Sep 21, Kathmandu: 11 children were killed when an army helicopter fired at a school in Myanmar.

In the same incident, 15 people have become uncontactable. Students were killed by an army helicopter in a school in the Sangen province of northern Myanmar. It is assumed that the army attacked the school on the suspicion that rebel fighters were sheltering in it.

The age of the children who died is 7 to 11 years. It is understood that their bodies were taken away by the army. Meanwhile, UNICEF has appealed for the release of 15 uncontacted children protesting the excesses of the army. UNICEF has also expressed its condolences to the bereaved family. UNICEF has focused the attention of the Myanmar government on protecting the lives of children.

Myanmar's government has been brutally suppressing pro-democracy activists and rebels. Recently, more than 2300 people have died in military operations there. 500,000 civilians have been displaced from Myanmar due to military operations.
