Oct 20, Kathmandu: The famous Facebook group Men's Room Reloaded (MRR) has been deactivated by Meta, the managing company of Facebook. Meta deactivated the group for violating Facebook's 'Community Guidelines Violence'.
The director of this group has assessed that MRR which was initially interested in youth concerns and funny events, started to enter political agendas in the last few days, so it became inactive in the run-up to the elections. One of its admins has informed us that Facebook AI has disabled MRR.
But he said that it was not shown which posts and comments have committed 'community guidelines violence'. Aiming at the upcoming House of Representatives(HoR) and State Assembly elections to be held on November 20 the Election Commission discussed with the representatives of Meta Company about stopping posts that spread hatred.
Some people think that this action may be connected with the said discussion. The administrator said that a 'review request' has been made to deactivate the group. MRR was active in the local elections last May to win the candidate for the post of mayor of Kathmandu Balendra Shah (Balen).
As the group includes a large number of young people, the officials of the Election Commission have estimated that this may affect the upcoming HoR and Provincial Assembly elections on November 20 in one way or another. MRR's Facebook group was also targeted in 2020.
