In the first half of the ongoing game at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in Qatar, both teams could not weave a dynamic attack for the goal.

This is the second match of the group stage for both teams. Earlier, in the first match, Japan won 2-1 over Germany, while Costa Rica was defeated by Spain 7-0.

In Group E, Japan is at the top of the table with three points from one game. A win in today's game will make Japan's trip to the last 16 almost certain. Likewise, Costa Rica, without points, is at the bottom of the group. Today's loss will end Costa Rica's pre-quarterfinal chances.
