On the proportional side, the CPN-UML is in the first place so far, while the Congress is in second place, followed by Maoist, National Independent Party, RPP, Jaspa, Janmaat Party, and United Socialist Party respectively. As the results of the election are not yet known, the curiosity about who will lead the future government has increased.

According to the results of the election, even if no one party gets the majority, the government will be formed by forming a coalition. Because of this, the interest and concern of the leadership of the new government have increased equally among the common citizens.

At the same time, common people are interested in who will become the president and vice president. It is natural to be curious about who will become the president and vice president who will be elected for 5 years. But common citizens may not know about how the President and Vice President are elected. For the presidential election to be held, the first thing is that all direct proportional vote results should be obtained.

After that, a government is formed under the leadership of one of the parties by forming a majority. After the formation of the government, there is a constitutional provision that the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker should be elected within 15 days of the sitting of the Federal Parliament. Only then will the election process for the President and Vice President begin.

For the election of the President and Vice President, members of the House of Representatives, members of the National Assembly, and members of the Provincial Assembly will be voters. However, 1 vote given by the federal parliamentarians is equal to 79 and 1 vote given by the provincial assembly members is 48 votes, said Surya Prasad Aryal, Assistant Spokesperson and Information Officer of the Election Commission while talking to the media.

He added the 48 votes cast by one member of the Provincial Assembly and 79 cast by one member of the House of Representatives. According to Assistant Spokesperson Aryal, in the first phase, all those interested in running for the presidency are allowed to run for office, but if they are not elected in the first phase, then in the second phase, only the first and second candidates in the first phase will compete.

He said that other candidates except the first and second who will compete in the first stage will be eliminated from the competition. Assistant Spokesperson Aryal said that even in the second election stage if any candidate fails to get more than 50 percent of the votes.

The person who gets the most votes in the next round of voting will be elected as the President. He made it clear that the election of the President and Vice President cannot be held at the same stage as they should be of different genders and different communities when electing the President and Vice President.

Assistant Spokesperson Aryal said that the President and Vice President should be qualified to be members of the Federal Parliament. He said that the President and Vice President do not need to be MPs, but they should be 45 years old, qualified by law, of different genders, and different communities. He said that a person who has been a president more than two times cannot become president for the third time.

After the election, about 3 dozen office bearers, including the President, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Speaker, will be elected from the new MPs and Provincial Assemblies within a few months. After 34 new office bearers will come, the positions are distributed among the parties to balance the power. The Constitution clearly provides that the President and Vice President should be elected within one month of the formation of the Federal Parliament.

According to the constitution, the election of the President is done by the electoral board consisting of members of the Federal Parliament and members of the Provincial Assembly. Sub-section 3 of Article 62 of the Constitution stipulates that the person who gets the majority of the total votes of the electoral college, i.e. the candidate who gets more than 50 percent of the total votes in the voting, will be elected as the President.

A total of 884 MPs including 165 direct members and 110 proportional members, 275 members of the National Assembly and 59 members of the National Assembly, and 550 members of the Provincial Assembly will participate in the presidential election.
