Dec 30, Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has directed that the ban on mobile phones for those employed abroad and those brought in personally from abroad not be implemented immediately.
He directed the customs department not to halt mobile phone imports immediately on Thursday. The system of paying a mandatory 18% tax to the customs department when bringing a second mobile phone other than the one you are using was sought to be implemented.
When such a system was ready to go live on Friday, it was heavily criticized. Similarly, the Prime Minister has directed the Nepal Telecommunication Authority to postpone the implementation of the MDMS system for the time being.
